Places

Here you will find some pictures that I have taken and hopefully some useful tips.

Some Places I have Been

Here are a few places that I have been and some of my thoughts about each one. My memories of each place are held dear to me and are far more than I could ever express.

Fern Canyon

Fern Canyon was a fun hike and also a beautiful place to see. The tall, close canyon walls covered in ferns made me want to drive a speeder through this place. I can understand why movie producers chose this spot to film some major movies.

Glacier Lake

This hike is one of the best keep secrets that I have found.  Glacier Lake is just one of many lakes in this basin that is filled with fresh snow water and the elusive gold trout. The trails range in difficulty but are easy enough for a first-time trip.

Gold Bluffs Beach

Ocean camping and backpacking is by far my favorite place to hike. One would think it's just a walk on the beach but it has many challenges that come with the hike. The sound of the crashing ocean and the wildlife seem to smooth over the challenges making the difficulties become an acceptable adventure.

Horsetail Falls

I was surprised at how easy this walk was for me considering the elevation and the steep trail. On my return trip, I will plan to spend more time here and bring something to swim in. There are a lot of small pools (like the one in the picture) on the way up to the waterfall.

Point Reyes

Point Reyes seems to be a great place to backpack when it's hot in the city. During the heat of the summer, it still remains fairly cool and makes a great escape.  Camping on the coast with quails and rabbits isn't too bad.

Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon speaks for itself; if you have never been there, I say go. I went in the wintertime, right at the end of December, and it was extra extra cold.  I also had the opportunity to see some wild Elk crossing the main entrance to the park.
